Adalyn couldnât believe he had sent this beautiful arrangement. Taking in a deep breath, she began to type a message, but decided a phone call would be better.
âHey, you,â Colin answered in a chipper voice.
âHi. I just got home and opened the flowers you sent. Colin, theyâre beautiful. Thank you so much. You didnât have to do that.â
âI know I didnât, but I wanted to. Itâs my way of welcoming your mom and sister to Harbor Falls. Plus, bring them to the Seaside before they head back to New York and the meals are on the house.â
âThank you. Thatâs so sweet. Theyâre going to love them just as much as I do. Theyâll look perfect sitting in the center of my dining table. Youâll be at your Aunt Rosieâs tonight, right?â
âOf course. Hey, Adalyn, I have to run. A delivery just came in. Iâll see you tonight. By the way, youâre welcome for the flowers.â
âIâll see you tonight.â
Adalyn grabbed some plates and silverware and set the table for lunch. Just as she was placing the vase of flowers, her phone dinged with a text message from her mom.
âHi, honey. Weâll be at your home in about ten minutes.â
âGreat, Mom. I canât wait to see you and Hannah.â
She stepped out on the deck and leaned against the railing, while looking out into the blue ocean water. She heard a car pull into the driveway, so she ran down the stairs of the deck and to the front of the house to greet her mom and Hannah.
âOH MY GOD!â Hannah exclaimed. âThis is beautiful!â She gave Adalyn a hug.
âDarling, Iâve missed you so much,â her mother spoke as she hugged her.
âI missed you too, Mom.â
Adalyn helped with their bags and the three of them stepped inside.
âAddy, your home is even more beautiful in person as it is over Facetime,â her mother spoke.
âThanks, Mom. I picked up some lunch. I hope youâre hungry.â
âIâm starving,â Hannah said as they stepped into the kitchen. âWhat beautiful flowers.â
âArenât they? Colin sent them for all of us.â
âWhat?â Adalynâs mother gave her a sly look.
âThe card is on the counter.â
Hannah walked over to where her mother picked up the card and read it along with her.
âWhat a sweet and generous man. I canât wait to meet him,â her mother said.
âMe either.â Hannah smiled. âWhen do we get the privilege?â
Adalyn walked over to the refrigerator and pulled out the chicken salad pineapple boats.
âActually, youâll meet him tonight. Rosie is hosting a welcome dinner for you, mom, Luis and Alfred at the bed and breakfast at seven oâclock.â
âHow nice of her. I canât wait to see this bed and breakfast you told us about,â her mother spoke.
âDid you make those?â Hannah pointed to the chicken salad.
âNo.â Adalyn let out a light laugh. âI picked them up at the fruit market. The man who runs the place is Katherineâs husband, Scott. Youâll meet him and her as well tonight.â
âSounds good. Do you have any chardonnay to go with this wonderful looking chicken salad?â Hannah asked.
